13th December 2018 - we are writing to all our tenants this week to let them know our Christmas opening hours and out of hours proceedure

2nd December 2018 - earlier this year we received some funding from the Big Lottery to carry out some research on the specific needs of housing for people with Autism (including Aspergers). We are currently working on Part I of the project, this involves asking a number of people who have autism and their families/carers what it means to have autism in terms of issues around their housing and living independently.

We are looking for people to complete a questionnaire to record their thoughts on this - these are confidential and anonymous, it doesn't matter whether you are currently living independently, you want to or you don't want to, we would really value your thoughts. There are two forms, one for individuals with Autism and one for family members - we'd be very grateful if you could complete the form and either post it back to us at Unit 83, Basepoint Business Centre, Yeoford Way, Exeter, EX2 8LB or email it directly to This email address is being protected from spambots. 1st July 2018 - One of our newest tenants Rob has turned out to be quite the artist! We thought we'd showcase his work and highlight that many of our tenants have some fantastic skills and talents that come to light when they feel settled and happy. We have a number of tenants who have had chaotic backgrounds and within few weeks or months we see them blossom and their creative, confident side appear - we have tenants who are exceptional artists, basket weavers, musicians and actors and it's always such a delight for us to be able to watch and share their progress!

18th March 2018 - a big Hollywell welcome to the latest member of our team - our therapy dog Fenton! Fenton is a 3 month old chocolate Labrador and he lives with our Tenant Welfare & Support Coordinator Emma, who is a qualified therapy and guide dog handler.

Therapy dogs are used to provide comfort and reduce anxiety for vulnerable people, often helping people to relax and engage better with their support teams. Fenton will be working with Emma and some of our tenants, mainly in the Plymouth area - we have already seen some brilliant results with our tenants who have reported feeling calmer and telling us that Fenton has brightened their day.

We are looking forward to sharing some photos of Fenton's progress!

15th March 2018 - We are delighted to have been chosen as a finalist for the Plymouth Herald 'Best Social Enterprise 2018' in this years Business Awards! We have had a brilliant three years and to be recognised for so many awards this year is a real reflection on how needed the work we do is - we have an increasing number of new referrals week on week, showing how many vulnerable people are out there needing a safe home. We are very proud of the work we do, recognition like this helps to raise the profile of our charity and enables us to provide housing for those who truly need it. Check out the Plymouth Herald website for a list of the other nominees and awards.

The other news is that our CEO is now through to the FINALS of the Devon & Cornwall Venus Awards in the 'Most Inspirational Woman' category! The Venus Awards recognise the best of women in business, Katie is absolutely thrilled to be through to the finals - the awards ceremony is on the 28th April - keep your fingers crossed! For more info on the Venus Awards and the other categories and nominees have a look at the Venus Awards website.

18th February 2018- We are thrilled to have be shortlisted as a finalist for the Exeter Living Awards 2018! We are down to the final 8 charities in Exeter for 'Charity of the Year' and will find out whether we have been successful on 24th April at the awards ceremony at Exeter Castle. It is a great honour to have been selected by Exeter Living in this category - we are very proud of the work we have done and are doing to improve the lives of the most vulnerable in society, and it's fantastic to be recognised for this.

1st February 2018- Hollywell's CEO has found out that she is through to the semi-finals of the Devon & Cornwall Venus Awards 2018! Our very own 'Inspirational Woman' will find out if she's through to the finals on 1st March - keep your fingers crossed! Katie is up against some stiff competition from 4 other local business women, but she is really thrilled to have got this far in the process.

22nd December 2017- we are thrilled to announce that Hollywell has been successful in securing a three year grant of £75,000 from The Lloyds Foundation! This grant has been awarded to Hollywell in recognition of our growth and future potential, enabling us to continue to grow out work in the Cornwall area. These funds will enable us to house over 30 new tenants over 3 years, providing vital housing and housing support to some of the most vulnerable people in society.

In order for us to house a tenant we have to pay up front costs of up to £2500 per person, money that we don't get back. These funds - and all the other grant funding we have secured - help to cover the costs associated with housing a vulnerable person, allowing them to have a home of their own in the community. Check out our 'Case Studies' tab on the main website for some examples of some of the vulnerable people we have supported into their own home over the last 3 years.

12th December 2017 - Hollywell's CEO, Katie Sherjan, has been nominated for a prestigious Venus Award! The Venus Awards are a national recognition of the best of the best of women in business, celebrating women who have gone the extra mile in their business and charity work. Katie has been nominated as 'Most Inspiring Woman' for her work in setting up Hollywell Housing Trust, something that she is really thrilled about!

"To be thought of as inspiring in business is a huge compliment, I have worked very hard to set up Hollywell in order to reach some of the most vulnerable in society and provide them with a sustainable home. This recognition, even just a nomination, makes me very proud of the work we do every day" Katie Sherjan - CEO

Katie will need to wait until the end of January to find out whether she has been shortlisted for the award!

We would love for you to come along to our Christmas Charity Ball 2017, celebrating Hollywell's 3rd birthday as well as raising money for our work supporting some of the most vulnerable in society to have their own home and live independently. Please email Katie on This email address is being protected from spambots.
